With so many types of koi fish available every pond owner seems to want to have them! There are very expensive Koi fish still available such as Japanese Koi bloodlines.

There are many different types of Koi fish but the scientific name for them all is Cyprinus Carpio. Koi come in all sorts of colours and the correct way to describe them is with “class” and “variety”.

Under each class of Koi comes different varieties and then there are sub-varieties. The first Koi were made of three colours, red, white and yellow and all other Koi came from breeding these first original Koi.

If you are just starting out the most important thing is to pick healthy Koi.

Tip: Koi fish should also be called just “Koi” and not “Koi carp” as Koi already has carp incorporated within it. It would be the same as saying “goldfish fish”.

Some classes of Koi: Kohaku, Showa, Utsurimono, Bekko, Sanke, Asagi, Shusui, Kawarimono, Koromo, Hikarimuji, Hikari Utsuri, Hikarimoyo, Tancho, Doitsu, Kin Gin Rin.

Koi ponds big or small, waterfalls, cascades, fountains, water features, fish, plants and even statues, Water’scapes can all help create the perfect features for your home, office or garden.

Garden pond is a sensible contender. Here’s how you can cure worrying with reference to that propensity. This is like what my schoolmate announced, “Timing is every thing.”
